Abstract
Territorial disputes, regional rivalries, ideological conflicts, ethnic and tribal conflicts and conflict of interests are the most important political challenges that limit and threaten political security, which are linked to water and related issues. The aim of the research is to explain the effects of Turkey's water policies in the Tigris and Euphrates watershed on the political security of Iran and Iraq. This research, with a descriptive-analytical method, tried to answer the main question, what are the effects of Turkey's water policies in the Tigris and Euphrates basin on the political security of Iran and Iraq? The study addresses the following research question: What impact have Turkey's water policies in the Tigris–Euphrates Basin had on the political security of Iran and Iraq? Using a descriptive–analytical approach and thematic qualitative analysis, the study examines the hypothesis that Turkey's water policies have posed significant threats to the political security of both Iran and Iraq. The findings of the research show that Turkey's water policies to strengthen the sources of power production and political security of this country and reduce the sources of power production and threaten the political security of the countries downstream of these rivers, especially Iraq, due to geopolitical and hydropolitical restrictions and threats, threats to interests and political stability, have decreased sharply fresh water resources have led to an increase in immigration and the spread of conflicts, and the political security of this country and Iran is due to reasons such as a long border, significant political and security interests, vast cultural, historical, religious commonalities and significant economic and commercial relations have faced challenges and wide threats. Information has been collected using library resources and scanning documents, books, articles, media and electronic resources.
