Abstract

The subject of this article is "the study of relation between political participation and needs theory: case study, Yazd university staff" and essential question is: "what is the relation between political participation and Maslow's hierarchy of needs?" Considering those subject and question, This research In terms of target is Applied and In terms of data collection is a descriptive - analytical study carried out using a questionnaire to collect data. Statistical community, Yazd University Faculty and staff and sample size 266 adherents that through stratified random sampling method and the Cochrane formula is obtained. first was prepared a researcher-made questionnaire to evaluate the different levels of political participation. on the other a questionnaire used to measure hierarchy of needs. After data collected, by using one-way ANOVA test (Anova) and t-test, attempt to assess the relationship between political participation and Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Also we have tried to find relation between political participation and the level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs with education, gender, and occupation. Our findings illustrate that whatever the political activity of individuals is higher, satisfaction of needs is better too, and people have better performance in basic needs. Also there is relation between gender, occupation and education with political participation and Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
